HGM Vatopaidi generously and warmly transforms love into practice through its multi-faceted and substantial support and assistance for the task of bringing relief, through the Church’s welfare structures, to people who are suffering. The social and charitable work of the Monastery is conducted through support for social institutions and the charitable foundations of Church dioceses, as well as through specially conceived programmes aimed at confronting the social and economic crisis which has afflicted so many people.
Every year, the Monastery supports the charitable work of many dioceses, as well as institutions (orphanages and old people’s homes) Church camps, food banks for the destitute and so on. It also supports the Church’s missionary work.
As things stand today, HGM Vatopaidi is spending all the funds and benefactions given by friends of the Monastery on supporting students with scholarships, providing help to destitute families, and medical care for those without cover. It also contributes towards the release of prisoners who have no means of support and to the improvement of living conditions in correctional facilities, as well as the rehabilitation of those addicted to drugs or other substances. In addition, it assists monasteries inside and outside Greece financially, and provides financial assistance to Church organizations.
The Institute aims to contribute to this valuable work of the Monastery by activating all its powers in an effort to support the Monastery financially, materially and technically, so that it can continue its task of providing valuable help to all those in need of a word of consolation, as well as the practical support they require to stand on their feet.
HGM Vatopaidi offers great relief with its unstinting aid to many social and charitable institutions and has been shown through the charitable works it carries out on a daily basis to be of the greatest assistance for the relief of many people who are facing problems, offering open-handed love to those in need.
